How Paying for Dental Care Works at Forest Heights Dental
We would rather talk about cost before treatment than have it be a surprise afterward. Our front desk team checks your coverage before you sit in the chair, explains what you will pay, and bills your plan or program directly so you only pay your share. Whether you have private insurance, a government program, or no coverage at all, you receive the same dentists and the same standard of care.
Private Dental Insurance and Direct Billing
Bring your insurance card or plan details to your first visit. We submit claims electronically to most insurance companies and receive payment from them directly, so you pay only the portion your plan does not cover. Before larger treatments such as crowns, bridges or dentures, we can send a pre-treatment estimate to your insurer so you know your exact cost before deciding.
Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP)
We are a participating provider for the Canadian Dental Care Plan. Bring your CDCP member card and we confirm your coverage level, explain any co-payment, and submit pre-approvals for services that need them. Families with an adjusted net income under $70,000 have no co-payment. See our CDCP services page and our step-by-step application guide.
Interim Federal Health Program (IFHP)
Refugees, refugee claimants and protected persons with IFHP coverage are welcome here. The program covers urgent dental care such as relief of pain, treatment of infection and extractions. Since May 1, 2026, IFHP members pay 30 percent of the cost of eligible dental services and the program pays the rest. We confirm eligibility with Medavie Blue Cross, request pre-approval where needed, and bill the program directly. Read our guide to IFHP dental coverage.
Alberta Government Dental Programs
We accept every provincial dental program delivered by Alberta Blue Cross: the Alberta Child Health Benefit, the Alberta Adult Health Benefit, AISH and Income Support health benefits, and Dental Assistance for Seniors. If your card still says Alberta Dental Service Corporation (ADSC), your coverage is unchanged; Alberta Blue Cross took over administration in June 2024. Bring your card and we bill the program directly. Our guide to Alberta dental programs explains what each one covers.
Paying Directly
Patients without coverage are quoted using the Alberta Dental Fee Guide, and you receive a written treatment plan with the cost of each item before any work is done. We accept debit and major credit cards. For larger treatment plans, financing through PayBright spreads the cost over monthly payments with a quick online application.
New patients can start with a free new patient exam, and new families can book our $99 family exam bundle covering basic exams for two adults and two children.
We Help With the Paperwork
- Verification: we contact your insurer or program to confirm what is covered and what your share would be.
- Applications: we tell you which documents you need and walk through the questions with you. Applications for the CDCP and Alberta programs must be submitted by you, but you do not have to figure them out alone.
- Pre-approvals and estimates: we complete the clinic’s portion, attach the x-rays and notes the program needs, and submit it.
- Claims: after treatment we submit the claim and give you a receipt showing what was billed and what you paid.
- Language support: our team speaks English, French, Arabic, Punjabi, Urdu, Swahili, Amharic and Tigrinya.
Frequently Asked Questions
Do I pay at the appointment?
Only your share. Covered amounts are billed to your insurer or program directly.
Can I use two types of coverage?
Often, yes. Many patients combine an Alberta program with the CDCP, or a private plan with a spouse’s plan. We coordinate the billing order for you.
What if I am not sure what coverage I have?
Bring whatever cards or letters you have and we will check. If you have nothing yet, we will explain the cost using the Alberta Dental Fee Guide and help you identify which program to apply for.
